English Years 7,8 and 9

English

The English curriculum in Years 7, 8 and 9  builds upon the foundations already laid during Key Stages 1 and 2. Strong emphasis is placed on the development of a wide range of language skills and the study and appreciation of literature is introduced immediately. The programme of study at KS3 aims to meet the Framework objectives laid out in the National Curriculum. In Years 7, 8 and 9 students are taught in their form groups for five of their English lessons. For the remaining two periods a week they are taught in smaller groups in accordance with their level of English.

In Year 9 non-native speakers have the opportunity to prepare for the First Certificate English (FCE) exam in Barcelona in May.
