
Dr Josep Gonzálezwas born in Sabadell. After taking a degree in English Literature at the University of Barcelona, his academic interests took him to the United Kingdom where he spent the next twenty-three years. Thanks to several scholarships, he was able to take an MA course in European Renaissance Drama (Warwick and the Sorbonne) before completing his DPhil at theUniversityofOxford.
Prior to his appointment as Headmaster of the British School of Barcelona, he held a number of different positions at prestigious independent schools in the UK such as Charterhouse (Surrey), St Paul’s (London) and Eton College, and also at university level. He is passionate about education and, in addition to working closely with Cambridge International Examinations in the development of new qualifications, he has spoken at various school conferences on topics related to bilingualism and the importance of ensuring that our children are internationally minded so that they can become successful global citizens.
He is a fluent speaker of Catalan, English, Spanish, French and Italian. He also has a keen interest in Oriental and Middle Eastern languages.
