Pupils' experiences

Heidi Schmit Delmas – Head Girl 2009 - 2010

I have attended the British School of Barcelona since Year 10, and it has been, by far the most enriching educational experience I have had. Being Head Girl has definitely allowed me to improve my skills of coordination and delegation, and I have particularly enjoyed organising charity events such as the "Help Haiti" mural and social events such as The School Prom. This responsibility has not only helped me grow as a person, but also enhanced the community spirit in the school.

Being French, I found no problems in integrating the community, due to the variety of nationalities and the hospitality towards new students. One of the many things I appreciate is that the people I have met in the British School of Barcelona have helped me define myself, so much so that I know I will keep in touch with them forever.

Next year I am going to the University of Reading, in the UK, to study Politics and Philosophy. Even though I have never studied these subjects at school, I feel prepared to do so, due to the global awareness of our school and the excellent quality of the teaching staff.

I will miss the rewarding experiences I have enjoyed here and hope to encounter the same awareness of the community in University of Reading, as I think that is one of the most important qualities a school should have, and which is present here.

Pelyo Mendez Valero – Head Boy 2009 -2010

I have been a student of the BSB since I was 7 years old, starting the year in which the school moved from what was known as the "Little house by the beach" to its existing location. Despite the change in size and the increase in the number of students, the BSB maintains its familiar and friendly atmosphere which makes it almost like my second home. This year in particular is very special to me since, apart from being my last year, all my 3 siblings are in school: from my youngest sister, who has just started Nursery, up to me in Year 13. It is amazing to see how they grow up, the stages they go through, which always reminds me of my own experiences and development, in which the school has undoubtedly played a major role.

As I said, this is my last year in school. These will be 11 years full of unforgettable moments, during which I have made lifelong friends, but also of hard work and effort from both the students and the teachers. I have received an offer to study Economics at The London School of Economics, an objective for which I have worked ambitiously and I received the full support of school teachers and managers. Although excited about the future I will be sad to say goodbye to the BSB.
