Successful Fundraising Summer Fair

As every year, at The British School of Barcelona we celebrate our traditional Fundraising Summer Fair to raise money for a non-profit organisation in the local area.

In this edition the Primary Fundraising Society chose ‘Al Agua Sin Limitationes’, a non-profit association from Sitges. Their project seeks to provide people with different types of disabilities the opportunity to practise leisure activities which are often not accessible to them. Through scuba diving, for example, they expect to help them overcome barriers and limitations.

The Fair took place on a bright sunny morning on Saturday, 23rd May. Everybody was welcome to join and contribute to this altruistic cause, and the turnout was indeed remarkable!

The Primary Fundraising Society did a terrific job in the planning and organisation of the Fair. They arranged lots of fun games and activities, like yoga, face painting, bouncy castles, obstacle courses, penalty shoot, ping pong, and many more. They also engaged parents, teachers and other students in volunteering.

To encourage additional participation a prize was drawn among all the attendees. The raffle consisted of a Jaguar driving experience over a weekend.

The Primary pupils (from Nursery to Year 6) also joined the initiative by holding a Non-Uniform Day the day before. Their €1 donation was added to the Summer Fair fundraising as well.

‘Al Agua Sin Limitationes’ association was overwhelmed: “They stole our heart by choosing our project to make life a little more pleasant to special children. They and they alone were responsible for organizing such an incredible party where everything was well thought out. All we got was smiles and attention; even the sun would not miss the day allowing for a splendid morning… Our doors will always be open to anything we may do for you… THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU”

We would also like to thank everybody who participated and joined us at the BSB Fundraising Summer Fair on Saturday. Your collaboration the day of the Fair along with the non-school uniform day in Early Years and Primary has raised €1,975 for ‘Al Agua sin Limitaciones’.

Special thanks to the Primary Fundraising Society, Miss Nassy, Ms Coleman and Mrs Dean for their commitment and generous effort. Well done!!!
