On the evening of Tuesday 6 October, Mr Petrie and Mr Musson gave a presentation in the BSB Theatre to pupils in Year 12 and their parents.
The key aim of the presentation was to outline how pupils needed to approach the whole 6th Form experience and how, with the support of school and parents, they could really make the most of this exciting period of their school careers.
Amongst the ideas Mr Petrie and Mr Musson were keen to stress was the critical importance of reading and extending personal interests beyond the school curriculum, as well as really making the most of the enrichment opportunities and the newly extended work-shadowing programme, which the school now provides.
Finally, Mr Petrie and Mr Musson outlined the critical importance of the “Personal Statement”, a 4000 character piece of writing in which students combine all their experiences, skills and interests in order to persuade universities to make them an offer of a place.
Two 6th Form students, Alma and Isabella added to the evening by giving their personal points of view on their experience of the work-shadowing programme and how this has informed their future choices and decisions.
