On Friday, 11th March, the BSB Secondary school held their Sports Day, a whole school event that the PE staff -Ms Manley, Mr Jansà and Mr Van Slobbe- organise every year in order to promote sporting competition and for all students to have fun.
This year the activity took place at a new venue, La Bòbila town stadium, in Gavà, which everyone celebrated.
The event lasted for six hours, from 9am to 3pm. The morning event consisted in finals for Year 7, 8 and 9 in the following events High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Putt and Discus. The students had competed to win the final place for their house during PE lessons. There were also finals for Year 7-13 in the 1500m, students signed up for this event.
During the afternoon finals for the 100m, 200m, 400m and relays were completed for all years. Again students had competed during lessons for these final places.
Also during the afternoon there were events for everyone to turn up and have a go, trying to get the maximum score to earn points for their house, events such as penalties, football dribble, agility course, obstacle course, netball shoot, shot, long jump, triple jump, tug of war and many more.
Students were competing to earn points for their house in both the competitive and inclusive events.
Students had a great day. They loved all the events and really enjoyed the competitive side of the day. There was something for everyone. A well organised event and the venue was great. They were able to try out new activities and sports.
Rabi, a student in Year 10, said “This was one of the best sports days I´ve done. No, actually it was the best sports day”.
The PE Department were also extremely pleased with a very successful day of sports. Ms Manley said: “The students participated enthusiastically and gave their all. For the second year running Water won the overall competition, hopefully next year one of the other houses can come up as winners!! Well done to all the individual winners too. Finally, a big thank you to the Year 11 students who helped out with the organisation and personally to Ainoa and Mariona for all their hard work.”
