Year 5 Big Sing at BSB
On Thursday, 28th April St Paul’s School came to sing with BSB Year 5 students in our Theatre. We had a visiting Singing Expert, Ed Aldcroft, from Barcelona English choir leading the session. Mr Aldcroft had previously visited each school a month earlier and led a singing session with the children in both schools.
This was a for two-hour workshop aimed at increasing students’ confidence in singing and benefiting from working together with young musicians from other schools, which is an enriching experience our teaching staff is so keen on. The activity was also linked to the Year 5 Summer Show, as the students had the opportunity to perform some of the songs that they have been learning so far.
The Year 5 team, Ms Gilbert, Mrs Ridley, Ms Tomlinson and Ms Stancliffe, explained that this had been such an inspiring activity for the children that they are hoping to repeat it next year: “The children of Year 5 all really enjoyed themselves and we are using some of the songs and ideas in our upcoming concert. They particularly enjoyed singing “Born to be Wild” and dancing!”
Marti, Year 5 Blue, agreed “It was fun to have another school come to sing with us”.
Mrs Ridley, Year 5 Maroon, emphasized “It was wonderful to listen to the two schools singing together and enjoying spending time together. The songs were fantastic and it was a really joyful occasion for all”.
