Now that our students and teaching staff are enjoying a well-deserved break, it’s time to reflect on the first half of this busy term at BSB.
It’s been a terrific, action-packed period, certainly! Looking back at the pictures, it’s amazing how many activities we have organised, participated, attended and enjoyed across both campuses since the beginning of the school year, just seven weeks ago!
The list of events is as long as exciting:
- Since September, we have invited parents to join us for new arrivals meetings, open classrooms, coffee mornings, information meetings, parent-teacher meetings, parents’ workshops and Art exhibitions…
- We have welcomed many visitors from different places, such as London School of Economics, Boston University, Bromley High School Jazz Orchestra & Choir, Iñaki Zubizarreta (former basketball player) and Malayaka House from Uganda…
- We have held weekly celebration assemblies, and prize-giving ceremonies. We have awarded our students for their outstanding exam results, for their personal endeavour, for their going the extra mile, for their being extraordinary classmates… and we have been proud to present Music certificates to 56 students passing their ABRSM / Rockschool exams, 12 with Merit and 13 with Distinction…
- We have celebrated the European Day of Languages, National Poetry Day, World Teacher’s Day, Halloween and “la Castanyada”. And we are currently commemorating Remembrance Day as we always do at this time of year…
- We have explained the ins and outs of Spanish and US University entrance, and we have introduced the extended International Award programme to all Year 10 students…
- We have worked up a sweat in the weekly InterHouse competitions, in the first cross country competition of the local “Jocs Escolars” season, and in the third Handball tournament against local schools. And we have introduced the Daily Mile at BSB Sitges!
- We have been out on Biology and Geography trips, participated on a mammoth hunt and on a ghost walking tour, and visited the Garden Centre in Gavà and the Roman city of Tarraco.
And it’s all been enriching, thought-provoking, emotional, mind-blowing, and great fun.
We can’t wait for the second half with far more trips, sports fixtures, parents’ meetings, adult language lessons, open mornings, end-of-term concerts and festive fairs… Book your agenda! There’s plenty to come and we will be looking forward to having you in!
