Buzzing BSB with Celebrated Author Paul Cookson

What a treat for our students from Year 2 to Year 7 last week… Paul Cookson, celebrated poet and performer, came to visit us in Sitges on Wednesday and in Castelldefels on Thursday and has inspired everyone with his absolutely outstanding poetry performances – accompanied by his ukulele. All the children were totally focused and engaged, learning and laughing at the same time – it was magical!

Paul had nothing but praise for our students and commented on their good behaviour, how receptive they are and how much he enjoyed these days. He was particularly impressed with the poems the children had written, in his style, and loved their enthusiasm.

The whole of Primary was buzzing!

Mrs Walker, English Subject Leader EYFS and Primary at BSB Castelldefels, said, “I’d like to thank everyone for making today such a success. I know how hard everyone has worked to prepare the children for today. We look forward to inviting him back.

Mrs Kelly, Director of Learning English and Languages at BSB Castelldefels Secondary school, also said “It was a triumph! So much fun and lovely to see how engaged the students were – really enjoyable! So pleased our Year 7 were invited to the poetry party.”

Miss Patterson, Year 2 Teacher at BSB Sitges, added: “The presentation was fantastic. He had both children and teachers hysterically laughing and I actually heard Phase 3 laughing from where I was in the playground!! He read poems, he created poems, he sang poems whilst playing the banjo… 100% success even down to fact that he sat after school in the sun signing copies of his books whilst talking with children and parents.”

Thank you all for such a wonderful event! Our children definitely want more of these!
