Students of all ages from both campuses are welcome to participate in the race, with their relatives and friends, as well as the school´s teaching and administrative staff, all united for this educational sport and aid project which enables work to be done for the defence and promotion of Children´s Rights both inside and outside of the classroom.
This year, the BSB celebrates the 11th edition of the Sponsored Walk/Race. As a new feature, a group of Pre-University students have been put in charge of organising this year´s event, involving parents, students and volunteer staff, as well as finding sponsors. In this way, the activity encourages the development of students´ social and organisational skills, and forms part of the core subject “Creativity, Action and Service” (CAS), which encourages learning through experience.
The running of the race is very simple: students travel a symbolic distance, be it running or walking. Each family donates the amount they deem appropriate for each kilometre covered, and the funds raised support Save the Children´s programmes against child malnutrition. “No amount is too big or too small; they are all vital. Young children start to learn the importance of generosity, these are children helping other children”, explains Save the Children.
A fun morning is expected. Thanks to the cooperation of the volunteers and sponsors, alongside the race, the student committee has organised a series of events to further brighten the day including a raffle, Zumba, karaoke, games, cake-decorating, and face-painting, amongst others.
Don’t miss it! We look forward to lots of fun and fundraising!
