200 Primary Students Perform in Music Recitals

On Monday, 19th March, the Theatre at BSB Castelldefels hosted the KS2 Music Recitals. Building upon last year’s success, students who play instrument were invited to perform in a celebration of music. 154 students performed solo pieces during the day, with each year group having its own recital, with an audience of parents, students and teachers watching.

Both the Sitges and Castelldefels campuses were involved and students from both schools performed together. Alongside the solo performances, it was an opportunity for our extra-curricular music groups to perform. During the day we had performances from the Community Choir, the society choir, the Jazz Band and samba societies. Ronald Voskens (our drum teacher) led both the Sitges and Castelldefels year 5/6 samba bands in a spectacular performance together!

Mr Hebden, Director of Learning – Arts at BSB Castelldefels, said, “This was a truly special day. We saw students perform from both Primary schools and there were some simply stunning performances. Performing is an essential part of Music education, it helps form character. I am delighted to see so many students want to perform and the standard of Music across the year groups is exceptional. Thanks to the students, parents and all the instrument teachers for their dedication!”

Mrs Overton, Head of Early Years and Primary at BSB Castelldefels, was also very enthusiastic: “Thank you so much for all of the hard work in organising today’s recitals. I really enjoyed being part of the audience. We sure have a talented group of students and the fact we have so many students learning to play instruments is testament to the amazing team of musicians who teach them on a weekly basis. A huge well done to the team. Feedback from our parents was wonderful.”

Mr Ezquerro, Early Years and Primary Music Teacher at BSB Castelldefels, added: “It was a pleasure to see so many students sharing their talent with all of us. It is one of the most special events for the Music Department and it was a great success. Thank you to all the teachers involved and to the dedicated students and families who day after day encourage a love of music in their children.”
