The fair was organised by Ms Dean and the Primary Summer Fair leaders, with the help of many volunteer families, the Music and Art department, and many members of staff who ran a number of activities to engage visitor participation. We had over 50 stalls including amazing food from all over the world run by our international families, yoga, massage, face painting, nail art, basketball, litter picking and recycling, and of course, our annual raffle with many attractive prizes from different sponsors, such as Chiringuito Iguana Castelldefels, The Hungry Monk Pub, Castelldefels and CAB9 Sunglasses.
The Music and Art department organised a wonderful morning of singing, dancing and music, which was enjoyed by over 300 people!
Philip, Maria and Lola (three of the Summer Fair leaders in Year 5) said, “It was the best summer fair ever! We have learnt so much about organising an event and running a stand without a teacher. It has been a wonderful experience!”
And as Ms Locke, one of our volunteer parents said, “It was a day that reminds us again of all the lovely and creative and family-minded things that our school provides. It is so important to our children’s education and to the community.”
The BSB Summer Fair raised almost 4,000 euros, which we will donate to: Save The Children, Water Aid, Malayaka House, the local charity – CRAM, and to ‘Restoration Gateway’ through which we will be able to send a girl in Uganda to school for a year. We’ll keep you posted!
