The Jocs Escolars Set off with the Annual Cross Country

On Saturday over 30 BSB children participated in the first sports event of the “Jocs Escolars” calendar at Parc de la Muntanyeta, Castelldefels. The children ranged from Year 13 all the way to our Year 1 children; some of which were only just 5 years old and ran 550m!

All were a credit to their parents, themselves and the school as they ran their absolute best, and in many cases made the podium in their race. Thank you all for participating!

The Jocs Escolars programme includes a series of sports fixtures ranging from running, basketball, table tennis, chess, swimming, beach volley and many more. The programme promotes links among local schools, love for sports, healthy habits, sportsmanship and team spirit. There has been a long tradition of The British School of Barcelona participating in the Jocs Escolars of Castelldefels and competing in different age categories. Since last year the students of the BSB Sitges campus are also invited to take part in.

The next events in the calendar up until the Christmas holiday are:

  • Saturday 17th November: Basketball for Y4 and Y5
  • Friday 23rd and Friday 30th November: Chess tournaments for Y2 to Y13 (children must compete in both days)
  • Saturday 24th November: Basketball tournament for Y6 and Y7
  • Saturday 1st December: Mini Athletics for Y2 and Y3

We look forward to seeing as many of our students as possible. Send an email to Director of Sport & PE Jonny Cross at jonathan.cross@bsb.edu.es to register to each event.
