This year at BSB School we had a spectacular Carnival! After an enjoyable week in which the children followed the Carnival King’s commandments (black and white clothes, odd shoes, making masks…), Friday saw the culmination of all the intense work parents and teachers put into preparing the school for this week.
Carnival Day on Friday was an explosion of colour, music, magic and performances!
The day started with a costume festival as the children and teachers arrived to International school. At BSB Castelldefels, children paraded early in the morning dressed up in costumes following the theme ‘Magic.’ Their parents were delighted! At BSB Sitges, the theme chosen for the event was Musicals. Each year group performed a choreography in the school’s playground based on a different musical: we had Cats, Grease, Mary Poppins, Shrek, Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Annie and Hair!
One of the best parts of the morning was the visit from Sitges’ Carnival Queen and her retinue. As The Britsh School was filled with music, colour and fun, the Queen read her speech (‘Predicot’), which was written by the students themselves for this very occasion. It was a moving and awaited moment for everyone present.
Meanwhile, at BSB Castelldefels, Early Years children enjoyed a magic and clown performance, while in Secondary the students paraded with their costumes in the Gym, ready to pick the best one.
We also had the spectacular performance of Circo Raluy Legacy for Primary students of The British School of Barcelona, full of magic, acrobats and equilibrists. This was a first, as they do not usually perform in schools, but it was made possible thanks to the dedication of the #TeamCarnival parents’ group!
The event finished with an outdoor festive fair, made possible thanks to our many donations, like Frutas Antonio’s glasses of fresh chopped fruit, or Yelmo Cines’ homemade popcorn, plus multicoloured sponge cakes, milkshakes and juices!

The British School of Barcelona would like to thank every parent and teacher that made this year’s magical and musical carnival possible!
