The Power of Connecting

Emma Overton, Head of Early Years & Primary at BSB Castelldefels, reflects on the vibrant journey of the whole BSB community leading to the attempt to break Guinness World Record on Global Be Well Day.

The Power of Connecting

“In April 2019, we began to grow our ideas for making Cognita’s first Global Be Well Day something really special at BSB. Through our connections with other Cognita schools and resources provided by the Cognita Wellbeing team, we could see the amazing ideas that were evolving. This gave us the impetus to launch our day with a ‘Wow’ factor by breaking a world record, in order to raise the profile of Mental Health and Wellbeing. After researching the Guinness World Records website, we found the perfect record that we believed we could pull off: the most people hopping simultaneously. We wanted to get Global Be Well Day off on the right foot – literally!

The wheels were put into motion and a military operation was planned for and executed on the 27 September 2019. Who would have thought we’d all be sitting here as Guinness World Record Holders six months later? Connecting with our global Cognita family, and our wider learning community, knowing we were all rooting for the same cause, made the day so much more memorable. In doing so, we’ve connected into something bigger: the importance of looking after ourselves and each other, the importance of being well.”
