We would like to congratulate the whole BSB community for making it possible for The British School of Barcelona to donate 1,166 euros to Malayaka House, the orphanage in Uganda that BSB has been fundraising for for the last few years.
Students, parents and staff managed to raise these funds through different events which took place last school year, up to March 2020, when the school’s lockdown made it impossible to organise other anual major charity events such as the Sponsored Walk (which had to be cancelled just one week before the lockdown) or the International Summer Fair, which was due in May.
From September until March, however, our Pre-University CAS students had managed to run a range of fundraising activities, such as:
- Sale of friendship bracelets (Friends of Malayaka)
- The BSB Sitges Christmas Fayre
- Cake sales
- Donation boxes campaigns
- Sale of T-shirts for the Sponsored Walk (previous to the sudden cancelation)
Cornelie and Mamiko, our parent volunteers who lead on projects for Malayaka House in the Barcelona area, organised for the funds to reach Malayaka House in time for Christmas. We are very grateful for their support and looking forward to finding creative ways of supporting the orphanage during the COVID restrictions.
