New Cognita Study Abroad Programme

The building (1)

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new Cognita Study Abroad Programme for BSB students aged 11-14.

As a group we are committed to provide our students with a life-learning experience outside the classroom and abroad that enriches the pupil’s curriculum and learning, and opens up new horizons. This programme, organised in partnership with Ardmore, presents an exciting opportunity for students of The British School of Barcelona in Years 7-9 (from September 2021) to spend one term, one semester or a full academic year in another Cognita school in the UK.

Participating Schools

Types of Stay

Cognita Schools offer unique educational opportunities of varying duration. International students can choose from 3 options:

  • Term: Autumn Term (from September to December) or Half Term (from end of October to beginning of November) or Christmas Holidays (from mid December to beginning of January)
  • Semester: From September to March/April
  • Academic year: It is the complete experience, from September to June/July

International students will stay with host families with all members of the family over the age of 16 being DBS (police) checked to ensure that they are suitable to host our students.

Accommodation is on a half board basis (breakfast and dinner with the family), and full board accommodation is provided at weekends.

Student’s Welfare

We believe that finding a suitable and reliable Guardian is an important decision for parents sending their children to live abroad. Whilst the duties of a guardian are many and varied, the simplest way is to say a guardian will do anything for your student which parents would do. This gives families peace of mind that their child is being cared for appropriately.

Each student will have a designated “Guardian” (Host Family Organiser) allocated to them who will be responsible for their daily welfare. The Guardian will also undertake reports on each student to safeguard their welfare and provide parents with reports on their academic and pastoral progress. They will be in weekly contact with each student.
