On Thursday, 10th March, The British School of Barcelona took part in “Choosing a school in Barcelona“, an event aimed at expat families who have come to live in Barcelona and have school-age children so that they could find out about the local education system and showcase the range of international schools available.
The event was organised by the Barcelona City Council in collaboration with the Barcelona Education Consortium, the Government of Catalonia’s Department of Education and the Barcelona International Schools Association (BISA), of which BSB is a school member.
After the welcome speech by Mario Rubert, the director of Barcelona City Council’s City Promotion, there was a round table where several representatives of the organisers explained the local education system and the offer of international schools, along with the factors that families must bear in mind when choosing a school. There was also a practical presentation on the pre-registration process.
The second part of the session consisted of a OneToOne Educational Matchmaking system, where expat families could obtain personalised information and first-hand knowledge about the various international schools in Barcelona taking part.
Representing BSB, the event was attended by Mrs Maria Antonia Paredes, Admissions Team Leader of the four campuses that BSB has in Barcelona, Castelldefels and Sitges, and Mr James Petrie, Headteacher of Secondary and Pre-University at BSB Castelldefels and BSB Nexus.
Mrs Paredes said: “This event is a fantastic opportunity for expat families who are new in Barcelona to find out about the educational system in Spain and the international schools in the city. Many thanks to the Barcelona City Council for hosting this event and be able to help families to find the best option for their children.”
