On Monday 20th June took place the annual BSB Alumni reunion. After two challenging years in which it had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was heartwarming to welcome our former students back on campus, including our most recent graduates of Class 2020 and Class of 2021 who were joining the reunion for the first time! This was a fantastic opportunity to catch up with former teachers, staff members and one another. And it marked the fifth anniversary since the network was first launched!
The event was held during the Year 11 Transition Week as an opportunity to link school with the future and career pathways after BSB. Before the actual reunion, Mr Richardson, Director of Pre-University, and Ms Kellawan, BSB Futures Lead, organised a “Career Speed Dating” activity with BSB Alumni and Year 11 groups who were completing their Moving Up programme into BSB Nexus. It was fantastic to hear from some of them who are now in a variety of industries, such as Biotechnology, Interior Design, Engineering, Nutrition, Law, Computer Science, Hospitality, Marketing, among others. Their input was extremely valuable for our students.
It was equally exciting to show our BSB Alumni around our latest developments since they left, such as the BSB STEM Centre, BSB Nexus and the BSB Rugby Pitch. They were greatly impressed and said they would stay with us again to be able to enjoy these state-of-the-art facilities!
At BSB we are immensely proud of our BSB Alumni network and take every opportunity to echo their achievements through our social media. BSB Alumni are powerful role models for our current students and we take pride in inviting them to school to talk to them, whether as guest speakers, buddy mentors, or participants at our annual BSB Futures Festival.
