The Primary “Fundraising Team“ perfoms at the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital
As every December since 2012, our Primary Fundraising Society visited the children at the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital for their annual Christmas performance. This year they were also accompanied by the school choir, making up a group of 28 singers from Years 4, 5 and 6 volunteering for this special occasion.
This ad-hoc music band sang beautifully from their repertoire, which included classic Christmas carols, such as “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”, but also a lively bundle of popular current songs, such as “Happy” (by Pharrell Williams) and “On Top of the World” (by Imagine Dragons). The Fundraising team visited most of the hospital units on every floor, and delighted the entire ward with their cheerful songs and their savoir-faire.
The Fundraising Committee has lots of fun every Monday and Thursday afternoons thinking of imaginative ways to donate and raise funds for charity. Singing for the sick children at this hospital has become one of their premier events in their annual schedule of activities.
About the Primary Fundraising Society
The Primary Fundraising Society was founded in 2012 as part of the BSB Enrichment Programme, comprising assemblies, tutorials and societies which promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, as well as personal skills. It is run by Miss Nasi and Mrs Tiplady, and the Committee has members from Year 5 and Year 6 who organize events every year to raise funds for charity, and support projects of non-profit organizations and relief associations.
On an annual basis they perform at the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital for Christmas, and they hold a charity summer fair, which has a wide range of stalls, workshops and fun activities. They also promote projects to raise awareness about helping others in a variety of non-economic ways, such as visiting care homes for the elderly, or the blood donation session which will take place on Wednesday, 17th December just outside the BSB.
