Key Stage 2

The Key Stage 2 (KS2) sets standards for the learning and development of children from 7 to 11 years old

Key Stage 2 Curriculum

Primary education takes place at both of The British School of Barcelona campuses (Castelldefels and Sitges).

The National Curriculum sets out the learning and expectations for Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6). Key Stage 2 fits the later stage of Primary school.

All subjects are taught through a thematic and creative approach, using many different teaching strategies with the children working individually, co-operatively in small or large groups, and at times as a whole class. At The British School of Barcelona we believe that learning should be meaningful and we provide opportunities to promote pupils’ moral, social and cultural development.

At this stage pupils are encouraged to learn, practise, combine, develop and refine a wide range of skills in their work. There are six key skills which enable pupils to improve their learning and performance in education, work and life:

  • Communication
  • Application of number
  • Information Technology
  • Working with others
  • Improving own learning and performance
  • Problem solving

We promote The British School of Barcelona pupils’ moral, social and cultural development through the Enrichment Programme in our English school, and with a wide range of after-school activities which provide additional opportunities for children to express and enjoy themselves at Primary school, not only academically, but also in sports, art and music.
