Each campus of The British School of Barcelona -Castelldefels and Sitges- has its own kitchen, where school meals and afternoon snacks are prepared by qualified staff from Cuina Gestió, a Catalan food company founded in 2001 who specialize in the educational and health sectors.
All our meals and snacks are all checked against nutritional standards, to help students have a healthy, balanced diet and ensure that they get the energy and nutrition they need across the whole school day.
The British School encourage children to develop healthy eating habits by serving them hot and cold homemade delicious food in a pleasant environment where they can eat with their friends.
School lunch is compulsory in Early Years and Primary.
Secondary and Pre-University students can bring their own packed lunch. They also have the option of a sandwich menu for lunch.
Diverse eating preferences
We cater for the wide variety of dietary requirements of our international community of students. We offer a range of different meat menus (whether specifically no beef or no pork), a pescatarian menu and also vegetarian menus.

Food allergies and intolerances
Food allergies or intolerances are taken seriously. BSB School work very closely with parents to ensure we provide the correct and balanced diet for children with food allergies or intolerances, as we believe that it is important that these children enjoy eating school food with their classmates. Children with food allergies or intolerances are provided with individualised monthly menus.
Every month a registered dietician from Cuina Gestió plans the british school menus based on seasonal, fresh, sustainable and locally-sourced ingredients, such as organic vegetables and free range poultry. This ensures that the food provided to students is nourishing and of high quality.
