🧸 At BSB, oracy starts early. In Early Years, children develop communication skills through Talk Partners, using play-based learning, rich language experiences and gentle adult guidance to express their ideas with confidence.

💬 Through daily Talk Partner moments, children practise listening, taking turns and sharing their thoughts — supported by key vocabulary, visual cues and non-verbal communication such as eye contact, gestures and facial expression.

✨ These early experiences lay strong foundations for confident, respectful communication as children progress through the ‘BSB Speaks’ programme across Early Years and beyond.

🎙 Thinking Out Loud: Student Voice in Action

🚀 This year, BSB launched its first-ever student-led podcast, Thinking Out Loud, created and produced by Pre-University students at BSB Nexus as part of our REACH Beyond Enrichment Programme.

🧠 Through psychology, creativity and collaboration, students dive into real-world topics while building confidence, oracy skills and wellbeing. From day one, they take the lead, having designed and delivered every aspect of the programme themselves — from naming it to recording and producing each episode.

✨ A powerful example of ‘BSB Speaks’ in action, celebrating student voice, creativity and the confidence to speak up and be heard.

💙 Coming home to BSB 💙

🎓 Last week, our BSB Alumni returned to Castelldefels for a very special Christmas reunion: a moment to reconnect, reminisce and also to celebrate an extraordinary legacy.

👏 On this occasion, we were saying an emotional goodbye to Roser Reyes, who has dedicated an incredible 37 years to The British School of Barcelona. Pupils past and present and staff came together to honour a career that has shaped countless lives within our community.

💙 Dedications such as this one, from a graduate of 2011, reflect the strong bond created between teachers and students at BSB and the lasting impact our educators have beyond the classroom: ‘Dear Roser, I have many fond memories of you, and I’m glad we’ve stayed in touch all these years. You are a wonderful teacher and an even better person. I’ll never forget the advice you gave me as a teenager.’

✨ Her warmth, dedication and impact are impossible to measure. Thank you, Roser, for everything — we wish you a long, joyful and very well-earned retirement.
