Welcome from the Executive Principal
The British School of Barcelona
Graded as ‘Outstanding in every category’ in our recent inspection, we have a proud, well-established reputation for providing a world-class international education to students from two to eighteen.
Academic outcomes are very important and BSB students obtain excellent examination results which enable them to access top universities in Spain and around the world. However, in order to thrive in a rapidly evolving world, young people need more than just top grades. They need to develop the skills and attributes they will require in a world where many jobs will be automated and distinctly 'human' qualities – creativity, curiosity, collaboration – will be prized above all else.
School should also be fun and BSB offers a nurturing environment where young people can flourish and emerge ready to take on the challenges that await them with confidence and certainty.
We'd love you to come and visit our campuses in Barcelona, Castelldefels and Sitges to find out more about why BSB could be the right school for your child.
Neil Tetley
Executive Principal
'Outstanding in Every Category'
The British School of Barcelona has retained the 'Outstanding in Every Category' status following the British Schools Overseas inspection of our school in October 2024. This is the highest recognition an international school can receive and places us as one of the best British schools in the world.
The British Schools Overseas inspection is accredited by the British government, and we are the only school in Barcelona to have this badge of quality.
'The British School of Barcelona (BSB) provides a very high standard of education, which is supported by excellent relationships in a safe, very caring and well-organised school community.'
An outstanding school in one of the most dynamic, innovative and cosmopolitan capitals of Europe
The Good Schools Guide
We are extremely proud that a reviewer from The Good Schools Guide International visited us and reviewed our school. The result? An impartial, straight-talking and thoroughly researched school review for each of our campuses.
'Playing, exploring, creating and thinking freely in their own way is the basis of early years education and is the start of a journey of growth and development which continues through the school.'

🌍 Last week, our students took part in the Harvard Model Congress Europe 2025 (@hmc_europe), held in Brussels — an opportunity to develop leadership, diplomacy, and public speaking skills on an international stage.
🏛️ As part of the HMCE Society, they spent months preparing—learning the rules of debate, analysing global and U.S. legislation, and refining their negotiation strategies. Their hard work paid off as they confidently participated in committee sessions involving debates, bill-writing, and voting, alongside students from 28 schools, including those from the US and Canada.
🧇 Highlights of the trip included visits to the Museum of European History and the EU Parliament, as well as attending seminars on topics like applying to and life at Harvard. Students also enjoyed tasting Belgian specialities at local restaurants and took part in a social dance, connecting with peers from around the world. The conference was impressively run by @harvard sophomores, adding to this unique and enriching experience.
👏 Congratulations to our BSB Nexus students for their dedication and outstanding participation! We can’t wait to see where these skills take them next.

🌈 Across all three BSB campuses—BSB Sitges, BSB Castelldefels, and BSB City—we celebrated the vibrant Holi Festival!
🔥 Holi is a Hindu festival that celebrates the arrival of spring, the triumph of good over evil, and honours the god Krishna. It`s also known as the "Festival of Colours."
🎨 Our students took part in activities exploring the traditions and significance of Holi, deepening their understanding of this joyful festival. Some even wore their most colourful outfits to embrace the spirit of the celebration! Here are some pictures from our Holi celebration at BSB City Esperança.
🌸 The celebration typically includes dancing, singing, and throwing powder paint and coloured water. On the first night, bonfires are lit to symbolise the burning away of evil, and the next day, people of all ages join in the colourful fun.
✨ We wish everyone a very happy Holi!

FAQs
The British School Barcelona is the only school in Barcelona to have received the 'Outstanding in Every Category' status following the British Schools Overseas inspection of our school in October 2024. This is the highest recognition that an international school can receive. Our educational model stands out for the quality of our teaching, our relationship with families and students, and the global approach of our educational project. Our highly qualified teachers, innovative curriculum, and focus on both academic success and personal growth create a dynamic learning environment. Additionally, we offer two routes for university entry qualifications: International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and A Levels (supplemented where necessary with Spanish qualifications). Both are internationally recognised and respected by leading universities around the world.
We ensure personalised attention, effective learning, and a supportive classroom environment to support individual growth. Our average ratio varies depending on the educational stage.
Joining BSB is a simple and streamlined process. Our dedicated Admissions team is here to support you every step of the way. To get started, you’ll need to complete the online application form and provide your child’s most recent school reports, passports/IDs, and references (if applicable). This allows us to begin the admissions process and ensure we can meet your child's needs. Depending on your child’s age and the year of entry, we will invite you and your child to either an informal assessment or an interview to evaluate their English proficiency for the appropriate year group. Additionally, your child will have an interview with the Headteacher as part of the process.
