As the 2024/2025 season draws to a close, The British School of Barcelona is proud to celebrate a highly successful year for our Federated Football Programme. Now in its second full year, the programme has shown significant growth, both on and off the pitch.

Since September, all BSB’s federated teams, from our youngest Year 2 players to the Senior Juvenil (Years 12 and 13), have demonstrated consistent progress, resilience, competitive spirit, and a deepening commitment to team development.

‘The quality on display each week has been a testament to the strength of our student-athletes, the unwavering support of their families, and the professionalism of our coaching staff,’ said Jonny Cross, Director of Sport and Physical Education at BSB. ‘Each squad has demonstrated passion, discipline, and a clear hunger to improve.’

A major highlight of the year was the launch of BSB’s first Girls-Only football team. Competing from Year 6 to Year 9, the U14 girls capped off their debut season with an impressive second-place finish in the Territorial Cup.

On the boys’ side, the U14 Infantil team reached the play-off finals in a tightly contested season. Meanwhile, the Senior Juvenil squad (Years 12 and 13), where this sporting journey began, finished a brilliant season on a high with dominant 5–0 wins over both UE Castelldefels and Sporting Gavà. Their 6th-place league finish marked a major improvement from last year’s 15th.

The continued success of the programme would not be possible without our continued partnership with Humaes Sports Group & Football Club, led by Director Esteban Campodonico, as well as the dedication of both Humaes and BSB student coaches. Their expertise and professionalism continue to elevate our programme.

‘Every age group, every player, and every parent, from Year 2 through Year 13, all had their own share of standout moments. The energy, effort, and improvement of each team were frequently noted, and players consistently expressed their appreciation for the coaching guidance they received,’ Cross added. ‘It has been particularly heartening to witness so many of our players grow not just as athletes, but as teammates and leaders.’

Looking Ahead
With strong interest and many registrations already in place for the upcoming season, prospects look bright for the future: ‘As BSB Director of Sport, I remain deeply committed to the long-term growth of our Federated Sports Programme, not just in football, but across a wider range of sports, including Volleyball, Netball, and Basketball in the coming months and our new three-year programme, with the goal of offering high-level & competitive experiences for our BSB young people, of all ages.’

Registrations for the 2025/2026 season are now open. Families interested in joining the Federated Football Programme can email Humaes for more information.
