Academic outcomes are very important and BSB students obtain excellent examination results which enable them to access top universities in Spain and around the world. However, in order to thrive in a rapidly evolving world, young people need more than just top grades. The British School of Barcelona has retained the 'Outstanding in Every Category' status following the British Schools Overseas inspection of our school in October 2024. This is the highest recognition an international school can receive and places us as one of the best British schools in the world.

⛷ Year 6 on tour! ️
❄️ This week, 72 children from across our three campuses have taken on the slopes in the Spanish Pyrenees, and we couldn’t be prouder.
💙 From first-time skiers finding their balance to confident skiers racing down blue and black runs, every child has shown determination, courage, and teamwork. Watching them grow in confidence, independence, and resilience has been truly special.
🌟 With our BSB staff on the slopes and expert instructors guiding every group, the children have been supported every step of the way — while having the time of their lives!

✨ Pre-Opening First Look at BSB Maresme ✨
🎉Today, we were delighted to host our first pre-opening event for BSB Maresme, our new campus in Cabrera de Mar, opening in September 2026.
☀️ We spent the morning with people and organisations from across the area who came along to get to know our school, our educational approach, and our plans for the future. Guests explored our Admissions Space with panoramic views over the construction site, seeing firsthand how BSB Maresme is taking shape.
📣 The day featured presentations from BSB’s Senior Leadership Team — Neil Tetley, Executive Principal; Andrew Marshall, Headteacher of Early Years and Primary; and a special BSB Alumnus guest.
💬 Andrew Marshall shared: “The area’s rich natural and cultural surroundings will offer our students countless opportunities—not only to enjoy its green spaces, but also to connect with local residents and truly feel part of the region, helping to bring BSB closer to Maresme.”
🏛️ We were also honoured to welcome Cabrera de Mar townhall authorities (@ cabrerademar_cat), including Mayor Òscar Fernández, who praised the campus for “being sustainable and high-quality buildings” that bring “social value to the town,” placing Cabrera de Mar “on the map” as a centre of educational excellence.
🍵 Over breakfast, we shared ideas, had relaxed conversations, and began building connections in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. It was a wonderful first step towards becoming an active part of the Maresme community.

⛺ Our Year 9 and 10 students have been busy practising how to pitch (and safely secure!) their tents as part of their preparation for the DofE Expeditions.
🧭 At BSB City, through our lunchtime DofE club, students receive hands-on training in navigation, camp craft, first aid, and expedition skills, preparing them for both a practice expedition and a two-day qualifying hike that they will plan, map, and complete independently.
🌍 The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award gives students across our schools the opportunity to challenge themselves and grow in confidence, resilience, teamwork, and independence.

The British School of Barcelona is the only school in Barcelona to have received the 'Outstanding in Every Category' status following the British Schools Overseas inspection of our school in October 2024. This is the highest recognition that an international school can receive. Our educational model stands out for the quality of our teaching, our relationship with families and students, and the global approach of our educational project. Our highly qualified teachers, innovative curriculum, and focus on both academic success and personal growth create a dynamic learning environment. Additionally, we offer two routes for university entry qualifications: International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and A Levels (supplemented where necessary with Spanish qualifications). Both are internationally recognised and respected by leading universities around the world.
We ensure personalised attention, effective learning, and a supportive classroom environment to support individual growth. Our average ratio varies depending on the educational stage.
Joining BSB is a simple and streamlined process. Our dedicated Admissions team is here to support you every step of the way. To get started, you’ll need to complete the online application form and provide your child’s most recent school reports, passports/IDs, and references (if applicable). This allows us to begin the admissions process and ensure we can meet your child's needs. Depending on your child’s age and the year of entry, we will invite you and your child to either an informal assessment or an interview to evaluate their English proficiency for the appropriate year group. Additionally, your child will have an interview with the Headteacher as part of the process.
