Once again, The British School of Barcelona participated in the Barcelona International Community Day, the city’s annual gathering of international talent and resources. This highly anticipated event took place at the Barcelona Maritime Museum on Saturday, 28th October.

Just like last year, BSB stood alongside 80 other businesses, organizations, associations, sports clubs, and social clubs, all of whom cater to the needs of the international community residing in Barcelona. It’s no secret that international schools, such as BSB, play a pivotal role in the decision-making process for expat families moving to Spain. The Barcelona International Community Day serves as an excellent platform to discover everything you need to know about living and working in Barcelona, as well as the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals.

But it’s not all business – this event is a Family Day as well! Beyond the trade fair, the Barcelona International Community Day offers a wide array of activities, workshops, and conferences suitable for the entire family. This year’s exciting program included informative sessions, roundtable discussions, workshops, concerts, and children’s activities.

From our inaugural attendance to now, it’s incredible to see how this event has evolved into a cornerstone for expats transitioning to Barcelona. Thanks to our dedicated Admissions team and BSB Acting Executive Principal, James Petrie, for helping families seeking advice for international education in the city.

Barcelona: Where Tradition Meets Modernity
Barcelona stands as one of Europe’s most vibrant, innovative, and cosmopolitan capitals. It is a city known for its open and inclusive nature, diversity, and sustainability. Municipal records indicate that more than 31% of the city’s residents were born abroad, representing 178 different nationalities coexisting harmoniously.

Facing the Mediterranean sea and surrounded by the Collserola mountain range, it is the epicentre of major artistic, cultural and social events. The city’s global environment enriches the experiences of our students, infusing every activity at our school with international perspectives.

Barcelona’s history seamlessly blends with modernity, with historical buildings nestled in the old quarters of the city. The Eixample district, boasting nine UNESCO World Heritage Site modernist buildings, is a unique model of European urban planning. The transformative 1992 Olympic Games reshaped Barcelona, turning it into a vibrant melting pot. Today, it thrives with businesses, culture, leisure, and hosts over 2,000 congresses, along with numerous festivals and cultural exhibitions annually.
