We are delighted to share that a reviewer from The Good Schools Guide International visited The British School of Barcelona this year, and that, as a result of their successful visit, they have published an impartial, straight-talking and thoroughly researched school review for each of our campuses. Their initial visit in 2023 resulted in an excellent review, setting a strong foundation for this continued recognition.

The Good Schools Guide is independent, forthright, well-informed, and unbiased, which gives it unique authority and has earned the trust of parents and educational organisations worldwide. With 35 years of experience and over 1,450 reviews, it is a helpful guide for families who are considering the best education for their children.

Each school is selected on merit alone, following a rigorous inspection and decision-making process. This accreditation is, therefore, a kitemark of our school’s good governance, high standards and ethos.

The review offers a rich and insightful description of BSB. We are pleased to see so many strengths of our unique educational offering highlighted, reflecting the outstanding learning experience we aim to provide for every child—one that combines academic rigour with an innovative and forward-thinking curriculum.

Among the highlights, the reviewer noted our renewed accreditation again in 2024 as an ‘Outstanding school in every category’ by the British Schools Overseas (BSO), the UK Government’s official inspection scheme for British international schools. BSB remains the only school in Catalonia to hold this prestigious recognition.

They also praised the school’s focus not only on academic excellence, but on fostering curiosity, creativity, and independence. Classrooms across all campuses display BSB’s ‘learning habits’—such as determination, reflection, and curiosity—as a daily reminder of the values and behaviours we aim to instil in our students.

The review covers various aspects of a school from student achievements and academic development, to learning support and approaches to teaching. It also includes an assessment of school facilities on offer, extra-curricular activities, wellbeing and pastoral support, university choices and much more.
