At The British School of Barcelona we are pleased to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students in recent national and international competitions.

In a dazzling display of talent and skill, several BSB Pre-University and Secondary students (and a Primary pupil!) have garnered numerous awards across various fields, showcasing their remarkable prowess and dedication to excellence.

In the Spanish Royal Society of Physics’ National Olympiad held in Granada, a Year 12 student secured a Silver medal, emerging as the top-ranked female participant in a competition that saw ninety-six of the brightest physicists in the country compete, spanning up to university level! Enduring a rigorous seven-hour examination that tested both practical and theoretical knowledge, her accomplishment underscores her rigorous preparation and dedication.

Additionally, a cohort of Year 12 A Level and IB Physics students participated in the British Physics Olympiad’s Senior Physics Challenge, earning a Gold certificate, a Silver certificate, and an impressive five Bronze certificates. Notably, the recipient of the Gold certificate distinguished themselves by ranking within the top 7% of all participants.

In the field of music, three talented BSB students showcased their virtuosity at the Victoria International Piano Competition in Barcelona. Each participant received recognition for their outstanding performances, with one securing the First Prize, another the Second Prize, and an additional Honourable Mention Prize. A special mention goes to the young Year 2 girl musician who secured the second prize, underscoring the school’s commitment to nurturing talent across all age groups.

Last but not least, Year 11 students achieved Merits in the MacLaurin Olympiad, further demonstrating their proficiency in mathematics following their success at the Intermediate Maths Challenge in January, where they both had achieved Gold certificates, gaining them access to this Olympiad.

These remarkable triumphs stand as a testament to and dedication of both students and teachers alike, embodying the ethos of excellence that defines The British School of Barcelona. Heartfelt congratulations are extended to all the participants for their outstanding accomplishments.

These remarkable achievements are a testament to the hard work and determination of our students, the dedication of our teachers, who encourage and challenge our students to go the extra mile, and the continuous pursuit of academic excellence at BSB.
