Our Journey through Online Teaching & Learning
The rapid transition from the classroom setting to the virtual environment has been challenging, but it has provided us with the opportunity to quickly immerse and evolve in the use of digital technology to enable students to develop effective online learning skills.
We are committed to ensuring the wellbeing and continuity of our children’s education during this period of online teaching and learning. To help with this we are providing families with a range of resources and support to keep parents well-informed and help make your child’s online experiences positive and safe.

Formal Exams
The current situation has generated uncertainty and ongoing updates regarding external exams from the different examination boards.
Formal exams are a critical area in the learning journey of our students in Years 11, 12 and 13. In order to support these students we have provided clear regular guidance as soon as has been possible with additional support being provided for university admissions applications.
The final decision for each examination board has been:
- Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel: cancel GCSE and A Level exams
- International Baccalaureate Org.: cancel the examinations for Diploma Programme,
- Spanish Ministry of Education: postpone the dates of the PCE (Pruebas de Competencias Específicas) exams required to access Spanish universities, which are due in July this year
Moving On Activities
Year 6 into Secondary
Year 6 students who are finishing Primary school usually enjoy a Transition Day in June with their future tutors and teachers in Secondary. This is an opportunity for them to start adjusting to the flexibility and freedom that the new learning environment provides and also to become familiar with the organisation and basics of this next exciting stage.
This has been an exceptional year and we feel happy we planned activities to start this transition early in time so that our current Year 6 pupils have already had the opportunity to spend some time in Year 7 while the school was still open. The school closure has made it impossible for us to continue with Transition events or hold our Parents Information Meeting, but activities have been planned online for both parents and children to support parents and students in this process.
Year 11 into Pre-University (BSB Nexus)
Year 13 into life beyond BSB
The lockdown situation and cancellation of this year’s formal exams has presented us with an opportunity to use the time students would have been doing their exams to prepare them for the year ahead. To this end, we have developed two brand-new supplementary 6-week courses for our Year 11 and 13 students:- Pre-Nexus course
- Pre-University course

Virtual Meeting with Head of Year 7
In order to help Year 6 students to learn more about secondary school, Mr. Dakin (Head of Year 7) has met with the students at both BSB Sitges and BSB Casteldefells using Microsoft Teams.
During these sessions the students have received a presentation on what they can expect when they join Year 7, have interviewed Mr. Dakin with questions that they had been preparing in class, and have begun work on a project, titled “About Me”.
The “About Me” Project
This project involves the exchange of videos between the teacher and the students, who introduce themselves, explain their interests and hobbies and ask further questions about life in secondary school. Through this, both staff and students have been able to learn more about each other, building meaningful connections before the next academic year commences. In addition, secondary subject leaders have created some short videos for Year 6 students to watch to give them an idea of what they will be studying when they join.
