School Lunch and Balanced Diet

At The British School of Barcelona we are proud to provide good value wholesome meals to ensure students have a healthy, balanced diet and get the energy and nutrition they need across the whole school day. 

Our catering provider for all BSB campuses is SANED, a company with an experience of more than 20 years in catering services for schools. It offers a high quality gourmet service focused on creating day by day, nutritional and healthy dishes designed to meet excellence and the liking of our students. 

Saned’s main commitment is to offer varied, balanced and healthy meals that are also very attractive, encouraging plenty of healthy habits that children will carry on into adulthood. Their gastronomic proposal is based on using seasonal, organic fruit and vegetables that are produced locally. School lunch is compulsory in Early Years and Primary

Secondary and Pre-University students can bring their own packed lunch. They also have the option of a sandwich menu for lunch.

BSB Nexus, our Pre-University campus, has a cafeteria where students can buy on-site prepared healthy snacks and lunches by SANED.

Diverse eating preferences

We cater for the wide variety of dietary requirements of our international community of students. We offer a range of different meat menus (whether specifically no beef or no pork), a pescatarian menu and also vegan/vegetarian menus.

Food allergies and intolerances

Food allergies or intolerances are taken seriously. BSB School works very closely with parents to ensure we provide the correct and balanced diet for children with food allergies or intolerances, as we believe that it is important that these children enjoy eating school food with their classmates. Children with food allergies or intolerances are provided with individualised monthly menus.

Monthly menus

Every month, SANED’s nutrition and dietetics team develops our varied and well-balanced menus. These cater for the wide variety of dietary requirements, allergies or intolerances of our students, who get their separately prepared meal.
