BSB Castelldefels successfully hosted the second edition of its Festival of Technology on 8th and 9th June 2026, bringing together students, teachers, parents and industry professionals for two exciting days focused on innovation, digital skills and careers in technology at The British School of Barcelona.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural festival, this year’s event placed a special emphasis on the future of work in the tech sector while encouraging the whole school community to explore technology in a fun, engaging and educational way.

Interactive Activities for Students and Families
A wide variety of activities took place across the two-day festival. Secondary students participated in a Hackathon, collaborating in teams to develop creative technological solutions, while Primary students enjoyed robotics workshops led by BSB Nexus students.

Families also had the opportunity to take part in informative workshops led by students. BSB Nexus students delivered AI workshops tailored to different levels of experience, introducing parents to the world of artificial intelligence and the ethical questions surrounding its future impact.

In addition, a social media and smartphone workshop, run in collaboration with the local Castelldefels police, explored the challenges teenagers face online and offered guidance to parents on how to support safe and responsible digital habits.

Inspiring Talks from Industry Experts
The festival also welcomed a range of guest speakers from the technology and business sectors, who shared valuable insights into careers, employment trends and the future of technology.

Steve Parkinson delivered a talk on careers in software companies and opportunities within the tech industry, while Sergio Visnoni explored the growing importance of AI ethics in today’s society. Sidd Lizcano spoke about employment, innovation and the importance of building a tangible future in an increasingly digital world.
