BSB Hosts Its First-Ever Festival of Technology
The British School of Barcelona hosted its inaugural Festival of Technology from 9th to 13th June 2025. The week-long celebration brought together students, families, and staff for a dynamic programme of events focused on artificial intelligence, robotics, digital creativity, and responsible tech use.
The festival launched on Monday with the announcement of two exciting competitions during tutor time: a Hackathon and an AI in Art challenge, inspiring students to think creatively about how technology can be used for good. The day continued with a special Primary assembly on AI, led by BSB Nexus Digital Leaders for Years 4 and 5 students.
On Tuesday, attention turned to families with bilingual Social Media Workshops run by BSB Nexus students, designed to support families in understanding the digital world their children inhabit.
Thursday offered more interactive experiences, including an AI in Education workshop for families by Nexus Digital Leaders and a drones workshop at UPC for Year 9 students — an exciting opportunity to see technology in action beyond the classroom.
The festival culminated in a packed Friday schedule, beginning with a robotics workshop for Year 3, again led by Nexus students. A highlight was a thought-provoking lecture, ‘AI Will Save Us’ by parent and innovator Siddharta Lizcano, Senior Design and Product Director, followed by the eagerly awaited Hackathon and AI in Art judging. Winners were announced in the afternoon, just ahead of a crucial final session on the acceptable use of AI in coursework, delivered by Cristina Panadero, EdTech-AI Coordinator and IB Examiner, and Maria Kovac, IB Coordinator at BSB.
The week showcased the creativity, curiosity, and digital leadership of BSB students, while also encouraging thoughtful conversations about the future of technology in education and beyond.
