Students at The British School of Barcelona have once again achieved remarkable success in their Summer 2024 exam results. At IB, A Level, and GCSE, our students’ achievements have surpassed both national and global averages, with many exceptional individual performances to celebrate.

Some of the standout highlights from 2024 include:

  • 100% pass rate at both A Levels and IB university pathways
  • Average IB Score of 34.2 (well above the world average of 30.32)
  • 19.4% of students achieved a score of 40 or more at IBDP
  • One student achieved the maximum points score of 45 at IBDP
  • 46% of A Level grades awarded at A*-A
  • 19% of GCSE grades awarded at 9 (top A*)
  • 60% of all GCSE Maths and English Language grades awarded at 7-9 (A*-A)

As a non-selective and inclusive school, we take pride in providing every student with an equal opportunity to succeed. Our value-added analysis shows that students are not only meeting but exceeding expectations, making remarkable progress regardless of their starting point.

These outstanding results are a testament to our students’ hard work and the expert support and guidance they have received from both staff and parents over the years.

 

A Bright Future Ahead

A BSB education opens doors to a wide array of exciting future opportunities, which is particularly important in today’s increasingly competitive environment. As in previous years, our students have once again secured places at prestigious universities around the world, enrolling in the courses of their choice.

Approximately 33% of our leavers will continue their studies in the UK, gaining entry to some of the country’s top universities, including Cambridge, Newcastle, Warwick, Imperial College London, King’s College London, Bristol, and UCL (University College London).

The picture for Spain is equally strong with 43% of our graduates choosing to remain in Spain and gaining places and, in several cases, scholarships, to excellent public and private universities including ESADE, Complutense Madrid, University of Barcelona (UB), IE University and La Salle, amongst others. Notably, two students were awarded the prestigious Matrícula de Honor.

In addition, 24% of our graduating students have chosen to study at European universities in countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and France, or will continue their education in the United States.

 

Global Success Across Cognita Schools

Students across Cognita have also excelled, with impressive A Level and GCSE results in August 2024. In many cases, their achievements surpassed the UK national average (A*–E) for A Levels, highlighting their dedication and the exceptional support from our world-class educators.
