Graded as ‘Outstanding in every category’ in our recent inspection, we have a proud, well-established reputation for providing a world-class international education to students from two to eighteen.
Academic outcomes are very important and BSB students obtain excellent examination results which enable them to access top universities in Spain and around the world. However, in order to thrive in a rapidly evolving world, young people need more than just top grades. They need to develop the skills and attributes they will require in a world where many jobs will be automated and distinctly 'human' qualities – creativity, curiosity, collaboration – will be prized above all else.
School should also be fun and BSB offers a nurturing environment where young people can flourish and emerge ready to take on the challenges that await them with confidence and certainty.

The British School of Barcelona has retained the 'Outstanding in Every Category' status following the British Schools Overseas inspection of our school in October 2024. This is the highest recognition an international school can receive and places us as one of the best British schools in the world.
The British Schools Overseas inspection is accredited by the British government, and we are the only school in Barcelona to have this badge of quality.

🛍️ In a dynamic workshop focused on real-world communication, Year 4 students used everyday Catalan to “go shopping,” while Year 6 shared mini presentations about their pets — all in the local language.

🎤 Confident voices at BSB Nexus!
Our A Level students this week showcased their Extended Project Qualifications (EPQs), presenting complex, self-chosen research topics to an audience with clarity, confidence, and conviction.
🧠 These presentations weren’t just about the outcomes of their projects, but also about how they conducted their research, validated assumptions, answered their project question, and reflected on the process—highlighting both what went well and what they would do differently. In short, they revealed the learning journey behind each project.
🗣️ It was also a celebration of their communication and public speaking skills. From Formula One car aerodynamics to misogyny in rap music, students demonstrated impressive oracy as they explained, argued, and inspired.
💡 Topics also included Islam and sport, Brexit and the UK Constitution, graphic design as social critique, and whether art has become a commodity — each one delivered with poise and purpose.

🌿 Our ‘Cool and Conscious’ campaign has officially launched at BSB!
💡Today, our students came dressed in their coolest outfits to kick off this sustainability initiative — and they’re already taking action!
🌞 This is part of our school-wide commitment to becoming more sustainable by using energy more efficiently, reducing our overall consumption, and helping protect the planet.
Here are the 4 golden rules we are now following to stay cool and energy smart over the summer term:
1️⃣ Keep windows closed when the AC is on
2️⃣ Turn off lights and screens when leaving the room
3️⃣ Set the temperature between 21–23°C and leave it
4️⃣ Switch off the AC at the end of the day

The British School Barcelona is the only school in Barcelona to have received the 'Outstanding in Every Category' status following the British Schools Overseas inspection of our school in October 2024. This is the highest recognition that an international school can receive. Our educational model stands out for the quality of our teaching, our relationship with families and students, and the global approach of our educational project. Our highly qualified teachers, innovative curriculum, and focus on both academic success and personal growth create a dynamic learning environment. Additionally, we offer two routes for university entry qualifications: International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and A Levels (supplemented where necessary with Spanish qualifications). Both are internationally recognised and respected by leading universities around the world.
We ensure personalised attention, effective learning, and a supportive classroom environment to support individual growth. Our average ratio varies depending on the educational stage.
Joining BSB is a simple and streamlined process. Our dedicated Admissions team is here to support you every step of the way. To get started, you’ll need to complete the online application form and provide your child’s most recent school reports, passports/IDs, and references (if applicable). This allows us to begin the admissions process and ensure we can meet your child's needs. Depending on your child’s age and the year of entry, we will invite you and your child to either an informal assessment or an interview to evaluate their English proficiency for the appropriate year group. Additionally, your child will have an interview with the Headteacher as part of the process.
